Kirsty, how much do you have to try, as much as you can, despite everything you've said, you know, you've got the kids...
you know, waking up at all hours of the night and waking each other up.
To try and focus on the positive, as hard as all that must be, to try and make something positive out of it and to put on a brave face for the kids and not show them that actually, God, this is really taking a toll on me as well.
Do you not?
So they think your mammy is dealing with this fine?
So how do you manage things like that, like the communion or birthdays?
Even having friends over?
Yeah.
Do you worry about, I mean, how long did you say you're here?
Okay.
When you hear stories about people being here for a very long time, do you worry about what that will do to the kids and even to you, you know, the idea of becoming, you know, institutionalised, that you're not used to living on your own and they're not doing the things that,
How hopeful are you that, I don't know, in a year's time, you and I wouldn't be here talking about this?
every other kid in the country or every parent takes for granted with kids growing up?
I said earlier, it's very easy, it's probably too easy for us to breeze through life, a lot of us, and not really have to pay attention to the fact that there's 17,000 plus homeless people.
When you presented first three years ago to homeless services, had you a sense then of how long it would take?
Do you feel the people see you, that you feel seen?
Did you think, right, this is three or six months and we'll get back on our feet?
Yes.
No?
Well, it's the people behind those numbers was the story we wanted to tell and you helped us tell it and so did you, Lavinia.
