The Oakland Education Association revealing after an 18-hour bargaining session, it has reached a tentative agreement with the Oakland Unified School District.
According to the union, which represents roughly 3,000 educators, the two-year deal includes an up to 13% wage increase for the highest paid teachers, 11% for others, a $7 per student book allowance for teacher librarians, and salary enhancements for social and special education workers.
But the deal comes after the Oakland Unified School Board voted earlier this week to approve cutting hundreds of jobs at schools as the district faces a $100 million budget deficit.
It's going to take the stand in Los Angeles today.
