There's two instances that come to mind.
Carlos Santana, we remember him being a royal killer for years, both in Cleveland and Minnesota.
He comes to Kansas City.
Yes, it was toward the end of his career.
But what did he stop doing?
He stopped being a good offensive threat.
He didn't walk anymore.
And he still had, I believe, a season in Kansas City where he had the most walks.
But that was not typical Carlos Santana, who the Royals saw for a decade plus.
Like Andrew Benintendi, they did get the most out of him because he comes from Boston after the COVID year was a down year.
They got a lot out of him.
He was an all star.
There's more about the team, but he still had a pretty good year.
But few times have you seen them bring in somebody and all of a sudden they get the most out of him.
It used to be the pitchers.
You bring in somebody that maybe another team was overlooking.
