I guess you could say it was competitive for five innings because it was 2-0.

But at any point, did you feel the offense was going to get something going against Garrett Cole?

No.

It was only a matter of time until New York busted that thing open.

You'd be amazed at how many times a fan base will look at a 9-8 game where you didn't blow a 4-5 run lead far more favorably than losing 2-1.

They fought back.

They fought back.

They showed some heart.

It was a shootout.

You're going back and forth.

But, hey, you lose games like that.

When you lose like you did last night, even if it was 4-0 –

as you said, as I said, lifeless.

And this offseason, there was this focus from the analytical department of the Royals to bring the fences in.

We're going to add more runs.

A guy like Vinny Pasquantino can go from a 30-home run season to a 40-home run season.

You can add 5 to 10 home runs to Mikel Garcia's numbers.

And what we've seen in 56 games is an offense that outside of maybe...

a few series here and there, they don't have a well-constructed lineup that plays off of power, slug, on base.
