Rebecca Bracken introduced us to her father, Todd, owner and master jeweler of Bracken Jewelers.
He had on a tweed vest, gold-framed glasses.
He was standing behind a glass case with jewelry and a bunch of other shiny stuff sitting on green velvet.
He learned the jewelry trade, he said, from his father back in Decatur, Illinois.
As all kids do when they work in a debt shop.
Kind of a typical family business.
He came out here eventually, California, to work at the Gemological Institute of America.
Making certificates and grading diamonds.
We're here not so much for the diamonds and the jewels.
