I think that it's important to sell a utopia, and a dystopia is harder to sell. That was my take reading it, because I have yet to see this from Anthropic since they were born.

And there was a story not that long ago that Mark Zuckerberg was emailing researchers directly to recruit them. So there's a lot at stake for researchers. So they're getting a lot of money. That's a huge chunk. And yes, GPUs, cloud compute, it costs money.

You already know what your bill looks like when you leave your AC on too long. Just it is so expensive to cool these GPUs, to run them all day long.
