Maybe my take is actually... Maybe I'm thinking about it from a team strategy level, and maybe the take is more that why are spotters not taking goalies out?
scared because of goaltenders to do it in this moment in a big moment like that because it's a massive deal to do that like we're taking your starting goalie out of the game because of that hit yes and teams would lose their minds yeah yeah but I think I think that was clearly a hit that a guy should come out for like I thought it in real time you know what though like because there is ways of it right like say it was where the spotter pulls them and they get scored on right away after like instantly going to be like
But yeah, I think as a... I mean, and hopefully Freddie Anderson missed for maintenance and it has nothing to do with...
neck or head or something stemming from that hit.
But, like, hopefully it's nothing to do with that and this is entirely moot.
But I just thought that that was such a heavy collision that, like, if that's not... If that's not the sort of hit that a goaltender needs to go through the protocol for, what is?
With players, though, we have a fair bit of science about the really dangerous contact in terms of
concussive episodes tends to be secondary.
So head on ice, head on glass, as opposed to the hit itself, generally speaking.
But yeah, I mean, I think we probably do need stricter standards for the players too, to be totally honest with you.
And it's hard because it's playoff hockey and no one wants it.
But no, it has to be quality of life.
We have to be thinking through CTE prevention and how can we...
be enjoying professional hockey without worrying that.
I just think at the end of the day, and I think your experience illustrates this, like,
If it's on the players, if it's on the teams, they're going to play fast and loose with it.
If you care about this, it needs to be independently done based on an objective and rigidly adhered to strategy that is not adjusted for the stakes of the game.
And we all just have to accept that this is going to be the cost of enjoying this sport in a way that doesn't result in...
you know, a huge proportion of players who compete at high levels, you know, having CTE and having later in life complications.
