Like, that's an interesting hire, and I think a sharp one, especially with this team's development focus, given his experience, right?
Like, I think that's a sharp first move.
the budget thing doesn't concern me so much as the flying by the seat of our pants thing does.
And, and I don't mean to use that to describe Ryan Johnson or the twins so much as an organizational sort of pivot generally.
Like even the Sadeen thing was like after Rutherford decided he wanted to expedite his departure, we pivoted, you know, like they sort of launched a three month process or a three week process to identify a new general manager and,
Rutherford, this is their own story.
Rutherford threw them a curveball after the draft lottery and they pivoted to the twins.
That's a one week decision at the end of a search.
You know, and like a search that didn't include the guys like Brendan Shanahan, who would be more expensive.
And then they did fire foot quickly, which was a good data point that maybe money won't be the determinative factor in everything.
But it took them a long time to hire Malhotra.
And I certainly heard that they were driving a hard bargain.
And they ended up going with relatively restrained term for both Ryan Johnson and Malhotra.
Johnson also a very difficult negotiation.
You know, a hard line drawn in the sand by the club.
And so, you know, now we're a month in and we've got one front office hire.
