We are the architects of the future.
We are natural nurturers.
And I think about, you know, through my Aim for the Stars Foundation over 15 years, I pretty much mothered over 500 women.
And then I have been mothered by my girlfriends and my girlfriends' mothers, and then I've nurtured and mothered others as well.
So I think if we just limit the term mothering to being a maternal provider and protector of your own offspring, then I think we're limiting the interpretation of what mother actually means.
And I'm very fortunate also that
I get to immerse myself in Mother Nature and Mother Ocean every single day.
So I embrace motherhood now more than I ever have because I have a better understanding of what it actually means for me.
Well, I'm attempting to slow down while I'm ramping up.
So when I retired from the Pro Tour, I staged the richest surfing event in the world because it had to be the biggest and the best, which was a successful event for seven years.
And that essentially created a platform of growth and enhancement for women's surfing.
I also had my own charity for 15 years.
I had my own clothing brand.
I was investing myself in paving the way because, like I said earlier, I stumbled around in the dark for so long and there was no handbook.
There was no particular modality that helped me every time.
I had to draw on...
resourcefulness.
I had to draw on connection and asking questions and curiosity and reaching out and asking for support.
And then I created my own little pathway, which then has led me to then creating the Awake Academy with my business partner, Tess, because we want to help people help themselves.
And that's what inspires me today.
