That's well and good.
But we reckon that no one should be turned away from a frontline support service when they reach help.
We think that everyone who's trying to get themselves safe and their kids and their pets and their family safe should be able to have that help when they need it.
And the Commonwealth government says, well, you know, sorry, but no, we don't see that as our responsibility.
We think that's up to the state governments.
And the state governments are like, well, we're pretty poor.
We were hoping the Commonwealth would give us the money for that.
And any other ordinary person is saying, we don't care who funds you, just fund the services so people can get free and stay safe.
And so the Commonwealth has vastly more money than the states.
And our view is that they should be kicking in the difference between
So the funding has slightly increased, as I said, over a few years now, but it's still only about 80% of what the actual frontline services say they need to have the staff, to have the equipment, to have the beds, to help everyone that reaches out for help.
And, like, that's one in five women who are being turned away because the Commonwealth doesn't think it's their problem.
This is a national epidemic...
And they don't even keep a proper toll.
You know, it's more than 20 women have been murdered already this year.
The government doesn't keep those numbers.
We've got two volunteer organisations that keep track of it and they use different parameters.
So you get two different numbers.
So nobody really knows.
And again, the government's like, oh, we really wish we could do more.
