So the guy that started that then came out and said, oh yeah, actually detail didn't really matter.
I just wanted it to go viral.
And it turns out he sold his business for $180 million.
So he's not a man of the people, folks.
So disinformation can be so powerful and it freaks people out.
So those changes to the tax laws, they might have some impact on small business, but there's a whole raft of exemptions.
We're going to have a Senate inquiry to look into exactly what the impact is going to be.
And it may well be that the government comes up with some tweaks there.
But fundamentally, this has been a scare campaign and it's working because people are freaked out.
But in fact, the government really could and should have gone a lot stronger in raising revenue from the big companies and the billionaires that can afford to pay and then used it to help ordinary people, whether that's young people, small businesses, just ordinary folk.
So what would you have liked to have seen with capital gains tax and negative gearing?
No grandfathering?
Yeah, just get rid of it.
Like, okay, maybe one property, fine.
But any more than that,
Like you can have as many properties as you like, but you don't, you shouldn't need taxpayer support to do that.
When not everyone has a home, why are we subsidising professional property investors?
It's not fair and it's putting house prices up.
So, yeah, we don't object to people doing well for themselves, but you don't need taxpayer support to do that.
Well, it is hard to discern the reality from the scare campaigns.
