I immediately started telling everybody I'm queer.
I was so excited for the first few months.
I even started counting, oh, you're the fourth person I told.
I was like, I like a girl.
And no one was surprised.
It took me a while to tell them.
Can you give me a little bit of background on the beliefs in your culture?
Lots of negative beliefs around queer people.
Lots of stereotypes of, like, they're crazy, they're wild, or there's a whole aspect of, like, the religious side of, like, this is, just like in most religions, like, this is not okay, this is prohibited, this goes against the laws of the universe and the laws of nature and procreation and all that crap.
And I would say they're more culturally conservative than religious, but I would say they are religious.
I always thought, oh, like I'd come out when I have a girlfriend.
But the best thing that I did is not do that.
I didn't mean to like come out to my family when I came out to my family.
