After some destruction to the village and getting herded away by Rigon, Lyri creates one big fuck you rave in the form of an ice pillar, aka a moon plume nesting perch, to literally make it as high as possible to be as far away from rave as she can.
And rave is warned that this dragon is more wild than tame.
It doesn't matter that Lyri has been bonded to two people before.
She is done with Faye.
She is done with being contained.
Done with being told what to do.
Done with being let down.
We'll talk a lot more about that next episode.
But I really and truly do think that this experience with Leary is so huge for Rave's character arc in this book.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Outwardly, Khan is the embodiment of a supportive partner.

Even if his own fears are telling him not to let her do this.
More evidence for why Khan is the ultimate book husband.
He recognizes his role and understands why she needs to do this for herself and for Leary.
It doesn't make it any easier for him to experience it on the sidelines, though.
As we see at the end of this chapter, he literally has a physical reaction to how he's feeling and he throws up.
But he makes sure to do it outside where Rave doesn't see because he knows that he needs to stay strong and reasonable for her.
