Everyone's been dying.
It's pretty horrific.
And so he's coming across as completely irredeemable from the outset, and so...
what I had to go and approach was, why has he done this?
And how can Clara forgive him for this?
And who else might be responsible for these sorts of things?
And so I'm trying to talk about this in a way that doesn't give any spoilers.
But that's basically the cornerstone of their relationship, so that they are such enemies.
And then as, I suppose, he starts to expose his vulnerabilities to her, that says they kind of
start to change they're getting stuck together in this space they're having to like become more familiar with one another and or the peep everybody else around them yes yeah I suppose it's um it's it's the real turning point is kind of like as Henri comes into it and as Clara starts warming to Henri it becomes more of a found family and not just like servant master dynamic um and so it it's it's not just about their relationship it's about
their relationship with the world as well and that level of healing and building a community because there's so much more to life and relationships than just
partners, if that makes sense.
Why is it that this comes up in fantasy so much?
Yeah, I don't know if my response is going to be completely PC, but I think it's probably because, like, I don't know, fantasy attracts a lot of neurodivergent people, and I think neurodivergent people really like found family.
I think they're people who often have, like, more strange relationships with their families.
I have a really good relationship with my family, but I do also have ADHD, so I'm not, like, overstepping here.
But I think that might be part of it.
I think it's people who maybe they enjoy these tropes because it's something that,
they look for in their real life as well and relate to.
Yeah.
