So I love that novel and kind of in the same vein, although different.
Now, I'm going to probably trip over the pronunciation of this because it's Swedish, but it's A Man Called Ove, which is by, I think it's Frederick Backman.
That was my standout novel of last year.
It was recommended to me by another author and I read the blurb and I thought, oh, I'm not so sure about this, but I trusted my writing friend.
And Ove is a man who is, this is not a spoiler because it happens immediately, he's a man who's really, he's trying to kill himself.
He's grieving the loss of his beloved wife who has died some months earlier and
And he's a very practical man, so he wants to kill himself, but he wants to do it in a very satisfying way so there will be no loose ends to tie up for anybody else.
And he keeps getting interrupted.
And the main person that interrupts him is his new neighbour, an Iranian woman.
I've forgotten the character's name.
But she moves in with her hapless husband, Patrick, and immediately wants help.
from Uwe and demands it really and they end up with this very beautiful friendship.
So those two.
But I also want to tell you about this fantastic book that I've just read called The Right Girl by Ellie O'Neill.
Ellie is an Irish author but she's living here in Australia at the moment.
This is a book that just blew my socks off.
It kind of looks like it's just a little sort of lightweight piece
beach read kind of thing.
But this book is about the protagonist is a young woman in modern day Ireland, and she's got a fiance.
She's got the regular set of friends.
