Aaron has expensive furniture and doesn't want to risk a cat ruining it if we move in together. Understandable. I've suggested possibly putting a glass protective topper on the tables and that I would maintain claw covers to prevent the cat from scratching. But we're still at a standstill. His compromise has been that the cat would just live in the guest bedroom and only that room.

But I don't find that to be fair. We keep circling around this without any resolutions, and it's driving me insane. I love Aaron, and I see a future with him. But this is our Alamo. He doesn't understand what it's like to own a pet and claims I'm choosing mine over him. I want to move forward with our relationship, move in together, and hopefully get married one day.

But it almost feels like he's using the cat as a ploy to not move in together. What do you think would be the best course of action? I would appreciate any advice. Ideal outcome would be that we find a way to either come to a compromise and move forward. Additional info, his mom hates cats. And upon first meeting me, asked if I had any.
