what should we just be looking for as a consumer of basketball with this team?
And what does this stretch say about them at this particular moment?
I'm glad you brought up J-Dub, Howard, because I believe he is the key to all of this, at least in the interim, right?
Because in the losses that they've had, particularly the instructive losses against San Antonio, he has not been good.
You look at his shooting percentages.
I think he went like five of 16 in the first game.
He hasn't shot over 50%.
against the Spurs, and those were the games that really kind of derailed their opening stretch.
And I remember watching all three Spurs games and thinking, man, Shea's doing a lot right now, right?
Like, he needs a secondary option.
And the way their offense right now is set up, J-Dub is the one that needs to fill out those holes offensively that Shea can't, right?
When the offense is humming...
It's Shea getting to his spots, doing his little hickory dickory dot game, and then Jalen is kind of fixing those pieces.
I equate to Jalen right now, and I'm only saying this because this is Idol and this is the trajectory that he looks up to, right?
I'm not saying it to compare him to his players necessarily.
But he, I think, tracks as like 98-99 Kobe where he's trying to figure out his way within an offense and a championship structure.
Yeah, he had that big game in the finals, but he's still coming into the fold of having to do that consistently throughout a season where he is that bona fide number two scoring option.
And when they play the San Antonio's of the world, I'm only calling it the San Antonio because they're the team that
consistently matches up the best with this particular team.
He has to find his spots because what happens is you get a team that has a lot of length.
