It took me a long time to find the things that actually made a difference.
But at the base of that pyramid of recovery was rest and actually respecting myself.

I thought it was a luxury.
I thought it was vanity.
But it actually is a basic need.
And it looks different for everyone, but for me, it's actually saying no sometimes.
It's saying, I won't do that group show because I'm currently very slowly taking my time on a solo show.
Very, very hard lesson to learn for someone like me.
I painted a portrait of the composer William Barton, who's an incredible Indigenous musician.
And I met him last year and I painted this portrait of him.
