And then all of a sudden she's like apologizing to everyone.
And it didn't feel real to me.
It felt like she had gone in saying, I'm just going to apologize.
And then in this week's episode, we hear that she's told another cast member, she's literally said, that's what they want to hear.
And it's like, yeah, it wasn't a real apology.
You're not really sorry.
And as we learned in this episode, you don't really know what a microaggression is.
So how could you possibly have apologized for it?
I thought that was really interesting because, again, these are the kind of race dynamics that we see being explored, really educational for people.
You know, it's not their job to educate white people.
But as a white person, it's really interesting to see these things discussed, I think, particularly in the context of America, where obviously their race history is different to ours.
But there's another cast member called Lake who is very young.
I think she's 20 and she's a young black woman.
And Brad says he's hurt that, you know, despite the fact that Lake is friends with Emmy, that he, you know, she wouldn't be more defensive of him in the context of this microaggression.
And Lake is really hurt by this because, you know, she says that, you know, she was raised in a family where, you know, she would very much pay attention to things like microaggressions and she is impacted by microaggressions herself living in a city like Charleston, which has a...
really difficult history with slavery, et cetera.
And they're having this like quite mature conversation about, you know, this situation and Lake is saying, you know, there needs to be room for her to be friends with Emmy and also agree that obviously microaggressions are completely unacceptable.
And then out in the front of the bar, it gets back to Emmy that this conversation is happening and she has this absolute meltdown.
She's like, what
fucking microaggression what are they even talking about and then in her testimonial the producer asks her to to tell them what a microaggression is and she can't explain it so she's like arguing that's not a microaggression I you know microaggression that's ridiculous but then she can't even explain what a microaggression is um
