A federal vaccine advisory committee has voted to end a longstanding recommendation that all U.S.
babies get the hepatitis B vaccine on the day they're born.
Now a CDC panel is recommending the birth dose only for babies whose mothers test positive.
Dr. Richard Besser is a former acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
He urges parents to consult with their own pediatricians.
Besser says hepatitis B is extremely contagious and he's concerned the new recommendation might lead to more cases.

During the government shutdown that started in October, the Federal Aviation Administration ordered U.S.
airlines to observe an emergency order to cut flights at 40 major airports.
The FAA said the order was a safety measure as unpaid air traffic controllers were missing work.
Now the FAA is investigating whether airlines complied or could face fines of up to $75,000 for each flight over the reductions.

The state's largest utility wants to invest more than $15 billion to expand its electricity capacity by 50 percent over the next six years.
It would be one of the biggest build-outs in the nation.
