It is amazing.

We now have an economy that skews old and rich.

Old people have the money.

And the government is looking at measures that might ameliorate this.

I mean, there's big talk, key economists, very sensible people, not ratbags, are saying we actually subsidise wealth in this country now.

So that's through superannuation, through negative gearing.

There's the capital gains tax discount, which is, you know, which is another measure.

And meanwhile, young people, big economy countries

you know, can't get a home, can't get a rent, can't get a home.

Longevity per se is no bad thing.

It's a tribute to what a successful, great country we have.

So the challenge for all of us is to come together and say, OK, we've now got some disparities that are really unsustainable and wrong.

And my fear is that what we will end up with if we don't make change is really an inheritocracy where those who are old and wealthy leave their wealth to their kids and

and others miss out.

And I grew up in, and I'm sure you, Sarah, think this too, grew up in an Australia where we had roughly equal opportunities to succeed.

If I die feeling that I've left Australia worse off, not better off for young people, I will feel very disappointed indeed.

Well, people are thinking about this very carefully right now.

So obviously we're going to need options beyond just endless interventions for people.

And I think more of us will say, you know, I don't need that.

So we need palliative care.
