It drops down in terms of importance, but I think it really can be quite fundamental to how people are able to progress through the revision period and then essentially their performance in their exams as well. I'll often talk to my teenagers about not just thinking about a pre-exam meal, but really thinking about how we're supporting sort of a bank or a reserve of good nutrition.

You know, that hungry brain is demanding some kind of fuel and you feel quite, as you both described, you can feel quite low. You need that pick me up. I need something easy. It can often be perhaps a snack or kind of ultra processed or higher fat and sugar option, which perhaps takes the edge off the hunger. But actually what we're looking at is that over time, what we see is kind of.

You know, a wrap or an omelette or something like that. So I think having a kind of bank of ideas that you can go to in those moments that are realistically quick, easy and nutritious is a good way to make sure that sort of habitually you're not always in the late night cafe.
Are there any foods that would make it harder to concentrate? Well, we've had the aforementioned energy drink, particularly with a high amount of caffeine, if you haven't had one before. And this is why I will always say, please don't dive into your first ever energy drink the morning of your exam, please.

I wouldn't say there's a perfect timing, but lots of my teenagers will tell me something like an hour to an hour and a half before an exam or studying can be really helpful to get a good energy release through that period.
