So I think we've got so much information now that people have got a little bit of, you know, almost action paralysis where they just can't quite get to the action piece.
And then secondly, the other day I was flying and so I was downloading some videos on YouTube to listen to before I took off.
And there was...
one guy on a large new zealand media platform who was interviewed and i'm pretty sure that by the time i plane landed the country was going to be gone the entire construction industry would be finished and you know i just couldn't believe that the level of pain that this guy was talking from and then the next video was someone from a similar basically the same industry saying oh you know that was still still selling things are moving oh the war in iran you know yes it's having an impact but
broke it all down with data.
But which one of those things do you think had more views?
Of course, you know, the really negative one.
So what I also did is I then went to two of our large major YouTube channels for media in New Zealand, and I just skimmed through and was like, OK, what are these topics, you know, have the most views?
And I would suggest people do it as a exercise to just see how much we really love to grab onto negativity
And those videos that are really negative and doom and gloom, they are large outliers.
Now what I've learned through creating content myself is that the smart thing for Luke to do as a content creator is to come along and go, oh, the algorithm like that one, I should talk about that too.
So now you also find there's people
in external countries outside of New Zealand, creating content to New Zealanders about how cooked New Zealand is.
And we're watching it going on.
But what they're doing is basically, oh, I can build a YouTube channel by copying what's already working.
So we get ourselves into this doom loop.
And I think it's just important to be aware of what we are putting into our ears, because very quickly we can lose sight of our own opportunities.
I think start with something simple and then course correct.
You know I'm a big believer in getting started with something and maybe this is my bias but start with something and get going and then figure it out as you go and it's just worked so well for me in my life across so many different things and I also see it with business owners all the time where they start with something, they course correct and then they refine it.
But we're always comparing ourselves to people who have done all the course correction thinking, oh, I'll just do what they're doing.
