But that foreseeing fastball, for me, is the difference maker for him.
And that's why you even see it on Tuesday with Jack Kohanowitz, who's throwing the ball exceptionally well, too.
They're utilizing, instead of always just thinking โ
Ground ball, ground ball, ground ball.
Because eventually some of those ground balls get through a hole and if there's guys in a scoring position, that results in a run.
So the four-seam fastball has made Soriano, I'll tell you what, his five starts are as good as anybody I've ever seen as far as domination.
And he's such a good kid.
He's always got a smile.
But the one thing that was interesting at the start of the season, he said, you know what, I want to be in the Cy Young conversation.
I looked at him like, wow, that's impressive because he's
He hasn't really been able to stay on the mound the full season.
The stuff correlates into a Cy Young candidate, but now you're seeing a guy that will be in that conversation if he stays up in his whole season.
You know what?
I think there's a chance for it to be pretty successful.
I mean, they've had an incredible schedule to start the season.
If you look at their opponents so far this year, every one of the teams they've played has either been in the playoffs last year or just missed out.
Like, the Astros only missed out last year because of a tiebreaker.
And then the Jays coming down, regardless of what they've started off, they were still, you know, the American League champs last year.
So another really difficult team.
Obviously, Ben Joyce coming back in their bullpen and then Kirby Yates would really help out because the bullpen with a lot of young guys has been ups and downs where they've had at least three games in which you should have penciled that in for a win.
