The bag was packed and everything was at the bed and he took really unwell that night and that was the start then of when the palliative care came in and
there was continuous care for five weeks.
He asked us to put on the video, which we started to do, and then he said,
He says, Mum, you need to put the light on, the room's dark.
And it wasn't, it was there, the light was on, it was in the morning.
And I said, Aaron, the light is on.
He says, no, Mum, it's not.
So I had to go over to the switch and I said, that's the light off now, Aaron, that's the light on.
And he says, it's still dark.
So that's where we realised that Aaron was totally blind.
And I had said to him, I said, but you can't watch the movie now.
He says, Mum, if I hear it, I'll remember what the pictures were in the movie.
So that was how brave he was.
That's the wee soldier he was.
2008, yeah.
Initially I suppose it was very hard and it's not in the grand scheme of things a child shouldn't die before their parents but that happened and you have to cope with it, you live with it.
Initially it was very hard for the boys, for all of us.
and that such a void that can never be replaced or ever be filled.
But as time goes on, you become stronger.
