There probably are blowhards out there, are there?

But the popular ones seem like they're nuanced and thoughtful and careful in a way that the new atheists weren't.
So is it simply that the new atheists overplayed their hand and we all eventually saw it?
Or if not, what is responsible for this resurgence of Christianity in the face of what seems to be a retreating atheism in culture?

I think that's a good assessment of how things are.

You're like, I don't know what happened.
Well, even some of the new atheists were like, that's not what we meant.
Like you went too far.
Well, what's funny is as atheism was beginning to morph into what the dictionary would call a religion, you know, like, okay, so we have a set of beliefs.
And these set of beliefs pertain to things like the afterlife, the existence of God, how human beings should live, but it's not a religion.
You're like, okay, but it feels like a religion.
Also, we should meet in groups, right?
They even had atheist church.
