There seems to be three basic answers to that question.
Yes, no, or maybe.
Therefore, it seems that it'd be most appropriate to have three terms that would then be attributed to the possessors of each view, you know, theism, atheism, agnosticism.
The agnostic has nothing to defend because he holds no view.
And that's why in those debates with William Lane Craig, to circle back to that,
they would get pretty upset when he would try to go present something.
Like, give me your reason for thinking God doesn't exist.
And they would always say the same thing.
No, no, no, no, no.
An atheist isn't someone who affirms the non-existence of God.
