And I think that's why, you know, if you weren't alive around this moment and part of it as it was happening and you try to revisit the N64 catalog, I think a lot of people have trouble with a lot of it because it was a time of wild experimentation.
Like, how do we make these games in 3D?
Like, what are best practices for
for moving a character around in three dimensions.
Control schemes were sometimes crazy and the graphics were not that great for 3D.
They look like crap today compared to almost anything.
But I still remember walking into a Toys R Us in September of 1996 and walking up to the little Nintendo 64 station they had playing Mario 64.
and just being absolutely blown away by what was in front of it.
Before I even hit start to get into the game, just pinching Mario's face on the screen.
That's all you needed.
Well, there's only two games that I think would go on this slot.
And it's not going to be a surprise based on the story I told you that I'm going to choose Super Mario 64, the game that dragged the entire industry into 3D.
You know exactly where that... I know those levels better than, like, my high school...
And they play better, and they're better.
