He's double dipping here.
I've wanted to get involved in the prog just to be part of it.
It'd be cool to have that on the resume.
Anyway, so when I saw that he wrote it, I was like, great letter.
You know, at its core, this debate is Louisville and schools like Louisville want all the college sports teams to share their media rights, sell them collectively, because they think it'll get more money.
And if you're Louisville, that's probably true.
But the SEC and the Big Ten are like, why would we want to do that?
So this is the case of, think about what baseball's like.
Back in the day, all the baseball teams were individually owned.
And they came together and created Major League Baseball.
But if the baseball teams were individually owned now, the American League East, the TV rights would be worth more than the National League Central.
And so essentially what Larry Benz is saying is the SEC is the AL East.
And we are the American League Central, but we need to come together to be the American League.
And, you know, the Yankees and the Dodgers, which would be like the SEC and the Big Ten, are like, no.
Why would we want to do that?
And so that's really the debate.
The thing I didn't like about Louisville's argument was, they were like, we made $155 million, we spent $167 million.
We're not going to be able to save college sports.
It feels like a counter is just spend $155 million.
