And indeed, if you get on the rabbit hole of violent Spirit Airlines videos, you'll find that many of the incidents began when Spirit employees did something that's objectively bad or caused a problem.
And then the passengers, many of whom lack any form of impulse control, go to war with each other.
Now, for example, earlier I mentioned that Spirit charged more money for carry-on bags, which had the side effect of speeding up their boarding process.
But as you might imagine, that policy had another side effect.
It caused a lot of people to get punched in the head and dragged around the floor of the terminal.

As the trade-off with any kind of novel carry-on policy, on the one hand, passengers will board the plane faster.
On the other hand, they might try to kill each other and the gate agents.
It's impossible to know if the trade-off is worth it.
But then also, if they do kill each other, then there's fewer people to board the plane.
So that might actually speed up the process a little bit.
And, you know, on the other things, too, when chaos breaks out, passengers on Spirit planes are sometimes very capable of defending themselves.
