So you want to see like a Paul Newman, Robert Redford in The Sting.
Of course.
Not some guy who kicks a lady down the stairs for her welfare check so he could forge it.
Exactly.
Both defrauders.
Yes.
But two different ends of the spectrum.
I want to tell you about a guy, and I'm pretty curious to know, I think you're going to find him to be your kind of guy.
Unbelievable.
His name's James Henley, 35-year-old guy from Greenwood, Indiana.
Prolific con artist, I think objectively.
His prior felony convictions, which keep in the back of your head when you're guessing a sentence, for financial crimes, including theft, forgery, and fraud.
So this ain't his first rodeo.
He implemented four schemes in this case that I'm going to tell you about as quickly as I can.
During COVID, he filed 120 unemployment insurance applications in 10 different states.
Once the applications were approved, he used 65 unemployment insurance debit cards to make purchases at retailers and withdraw cash at the ATM.
The states paid him a total of $1.1 million in this COVID unemployment insurance thing.
And the money that he was taking out in the ATM, he used it to buy a Chevy Camaro.
See, I knew you'd like this guy.
Scheme two, same guy.
