Closer to three. Okay, so my... It's really hard to get funding. Yeah, no, 100%. Especially, like, the later you get to... I mean, I don't think the Ingstad's were working on much more than a hunch, and they were basically digging on their own at the start. No, if you want to dig, you got to be like, yeah, we know there's something here.

And that's the thing is, like, the entire saga, there will be something like that where you're like, oh, okay, this part matches this place perfectly. And then everything else about it doesn't.

Because, I mean, even just going with Helluland, Markland, and Vinland, it's like, okay, cool. So this one's probably Baffin Island and maybe Northern Labrador. This one's definitely Labrador. Oh, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And they talk about something like on the land was on the starboard. And you're heading south, which means that it could have been anything.

It's it's on the OK, but so that means that they at that point in the story, they're not heading south along the coast of Newfoundland, at least not on the west side. But nothing on the east side of Newfoundland actually matches what they're talking about.

And in order for them to get to Nova Scotia. They kind of have to. you know, go down past Newfoundland, either that, or they have to not go to Newfoundland at all, keep going along the southern coast of Labrador and Quebec, and then cross the St. Lawrence and end up going around New Brunswick.

Which is not what they described doing. Yeah. It's... It's frustrating. I think the most likely outcome here is that you had a number of traditions, a number of stories that involved going to North America, and they kind of got subsumed into one. I think it's very possible that Torf and Carlsefni did not land in the same place as Leif Erikson or that there were people after him.

We have this story in 1347 of a bunch of people showing up saying that they had gone to Markland. Like, none of these... Like I said, the thing that perplexed me, the thing that got me to start off looking into this and do the video was how little sense it made to me that the Norse would have gotten to North America, seen what they did, and then not come back.

Because Greenland, everybody's like, oh, the Greenland colony failed. It took it 300 years to do that. Yeah. Like people stayed in Greenland for 300 years, knowing that just to the West, there was a much nicer place to live. Do we know what the failure was in Greenland? Yeah, it was a mix of things. I mean, just there's really not a ton of reasons to live in Greenland.
