Any player page on Fangraphs now has the contract section.
You can see, you know, what...
Vlad is going to be making for the next 10 years of his life, right?
We have all of this transparency into the players.
We lack that transparency into the revenue side for the owners, right?
And that is an intentional choice.
Obscuring those numbers is beneficial to them in negotiations because they can
and kind of say whatever they want to.
And we are limited in our ability to dig deep on them.
Obviously, there are exceptions to that, like the Braves.
But that imbalance, I think, is to the detriment of the players, at least in the public perception of them as they're negotiating.
But I think understanding just how complex these mechanics are for people is useful to fans, right?
It isn't just what people are making.

I think having a good sense of what the financial picture is is useful.
I think it's illuminating to see the difference between a team like the Blue Jays that has invested heavily in their roster is obviously trying to put the best possible team they can on the field and smaller market and lower payroll teams in.
and where the contrast lies, right?
Because it isn't just, oh, my gosh, I can't believe this player is making that.
It's, I can't believe that this owner thinks that they can field a competitive team with a payroll that stands in such sharp contrast.
So I hope that those differences and sort of nooks and crannies are illuminating to people.
