My bookshelf doesn't have a lot on it right now because I can write when most people can read, you know.
And if you're lucky to get this kind of job I have,
The downside of it is if you're not doing it, you feel guilty.
Like if you go out fishing or you go golfing, it's an uncomfortable day because it's like I could be writing right now.
And so I was a voracious reader.
That's what brought me to doing this as a career.
I can't say I'm a voracious reader anymore, but I hear about stuff, you know, and I hear like this is a new voice that you should check out.
And so I'm not without reading, but I'm not doing it at the level I once did.
There's two, you know, and I also write about Los Angeles, so I feel like I should know more.
what other voices are out there and check them out and see what's happening.
So I would say like two writers that have been really interesting to me in the last year or so is one's named Joe Ide.
I don't know, I-D-E.
I don't know if he is published here in Australia.
And another writer named Steph Cha, who just had a book come out the same week as mine called Your House Will Pay.
And I did find out that's coming out in Australia in January.
And that's a really good book.
That's probably the best book I read in the last year.
He writes about a private eye in L.A.
named IQ.
He goes by his initials IQ.
