And the number that he got from Louisville is substantially more than I think KU was willing to go.
And I think if you look at Flory and you compare โ
what he offers you in some of those elite games, right?
You can look at his numbers, and they really drop off.
Shot 54% in the quad one games.
Rebounding rate goes down.
Points per game go down.
And if you're going to pay top dollar for a center, you need that player to be productive in the elite games.
And that is not what Foy was.
And Foy was really good.
You're the Big 12 defensive player of the year for a reason.
But at the end of the day, when you're talking about paying top dollar, and what I tell our subscribers on the message board a lot of times, is you're paying a max contract.
You need your max contract player to not have severe flaws that you have to build around.
And I think that's just something that when you get into the negotiations and you're talking about crazy numbers and high numbers, I can understand why KU maybe was a little hesitant to go that route at that number.
And, look, like, I agree with you that Flory played a lot more.
I think defensively his ability to switch, right, that was definitely improved over his freshman year.
But when you're talking about a center under Bill Self, you think about guys that have post games.
And if they don't, they are physical inside, like Landon Lucas, and they have a go-to team.
You don't think of guys like Flory who are undersized and really aren't guys you just throw the ball into.
