The most recent polling by Pew shows 50% of Americans are more concerned than excited about the technology, with just 10% more excited than concerned.
And across 25 countries surveyed, Americans expressed among the lowest trust that the government could effectively regulate AI.
At the same time, 2026 may well be the year of the three largest IPOs in American history, with SpaceX, Anthropic and OpenAI all on course for trillion-dollar valuations to support their AI build-out.
It's a weird moment, but like it or not, AI is here to stay.
The question of how we decide to live with it remains up for grabs.
