It's finished.
It's just a matter of back and forward and back and forward and back and forward.
Another insight, by the way, at 16 past seven.
Another insight into just how fantastically accident-prone we are.
Latest stats from ACC have us falling over and off things to the tune of billions.
Injuries cost the economy $8.7 billion and lost productivity.
20 million days off work, 5,500 claims a day, $4.4 million on treatment, $3.1 billion on compensation.
Megan Mayne's in charge of all of this.
She's the chief executive at the ACC.
Morning.
Good morning, Mike.
The 5,500 claims you deal with a day, are they astonishing numbers or not?
Oh, Mike, it's a big number.
You know, two million a year, as you say, five and a half thousand a day.
And, you know, every one of those is a person who's had something happen to them.
And it could be minor or it could be life changing.
What's your job?
Is your job to pay out because that's just life or is your job to get the numbers down and save us some money?
It's both, Mike.
Our job is to help to prevent injuries, also to help people recover as fast as they can and get back to work or get back to independence.
