Like it's we we need that.
So we can't not have a big tent.
Well, I think we're talking about a Republican doing this, like a Mitt Romney type.
Yeah, I think that it would be a question of it changes the electorate a lot because you're going to lose a lot of those MAGA based voters that have propelled them to victory.
But you might get a lot of like suburban voters back.
So it's going to be a question of what are people looking for in the next election and how do they articulate their visions?
Do they have a vision?
Because I would argue that neither the Democratic or Republican parties right now have a good vision for the future that makes people believe that, uh,
that they're gonna do better than their parents did, because most people just don't believe that anymore, which is a shame.
And they're not, by the way, they're not living that.
So I do think it's entirely possible that a Mitt Romney-style Republican could emerge from that, but they're gonna have to rise above Donald Trump's brand and get that 30% of the Republican Party that...
that are people like my dad, like my dad voted for Nikki Haley in the primary, I believe.
Um, and he would like DeSantis as well.
Um, so not that I think DeSantis is much better than Trump, to be honest with you, but like Nikki Haley is perceived as which from, as a moderate Republican relative to Trump, had they nominated her in 2024, I'm pretty sure she would have won in a fricking landslide against Biden or Harris.
Like, I just think that people wanted, they were mad at the democratic party.
They wanted a normal Republican, but they ran Trump again.
And he actually performed worse than he should have.
I think for Democrats, uh,
They need to have a very clear, populist, articulate vision for the economy, and we need to offer people โ James Caldwell's been talking about this a lot โ a series of proposals that are going to help improve their life, that's going to raise their wages, that's going to give them a high ceiling for them to succeed, that's going to solve issues like student loan debt and paid childcare leave and taking care of your parents when you're taking care of your kids.
And it's the sandwich generation, which a lot of people my age go through.
