They want to see how he races, you know, all these types of things.
It's like a gravitational pull around him.
I wouldn't even say it necessarily generates off him.
He's in his own world.
He's out here just doing his own thing, to be honest with you.
clawing for it he's not asking for it he's just getting it and all these people are they're almost enamored by him to be honest i'm talking today the race is over he had to get changed behind this uh little i won't even call it a tent but you know a little screening he popped his head up it would have had to have been for half a second and there was about nine rows of people screaming it was like i was at a concert i couldn't believe it you know between him and noah lyles so
The intrigue is there, but equally to that, Gerard, I mean, the media attention is there.
And I'll admit, as someone who's in the sport, I was a bit disappointed with some of the reaction that we saw from Oslo.
It wasn't his best race, of course.
I'm not going to try and say that it was, but he's an 18-year-old kid.
And that's the other thing I see here.
He is a kid.
He's learning these things.
He's going to take his time.
And I think for us as Australians who are going to be the ones listening to this interview, let's give him that time.
I mean, these bodies don't mature for a long time in sprinting.
You can say in Bolt ran his 200 metre PB at 18, didn't go faster till 21.
So it just takes some time.
And I think he's realising and understanding that that time is on his side, but...
For all of us, let's give it to him because he is a show, and we've got something that the world desperately wants, and that could be one of the next best sprinters.
