Because right now the answer is nobody.
We've joked about this a lot this week.
This is the hamster wheel the Reds are on.
Every year we have the same conversation.
In June, early July, are they buyers or are they sellers?
My guess is they're going to be... I'm trying to figure out the best way to put it.
They're going to look for guys who can help them beyond 2026 who are not necessarily prospects.
They're going to look for younger players
who are early in their big league careers, who have years of team control, and they're going to be willing to give up some veteran parts in order to get that.
Now, who are those veteran parts?
I don't know that it's going to be a buy or sell in the traditional sense, where it's, let's give away all of our established guys for prospects, or, hey, let's go get two-month rentals.
I think they're going to try to find players like Key Brian Hayes.
Key Brian Hayes, acquiring him made no sense to me.
But a player like that who has years of team control, who's an established big leaguer, like Trevor Bauer when they got him, who was a guy that they acquired in 2019 when they were going nowhere, but you had him for the next season.
I think those are the sort of guys they're going to look for, whether or not they have the capital to be capable of getting those guys.
But we do this every year, every summer.
