Julie is a craftsman and not just in design.
When she wants to understand something, she dives in deep and builds a whole practice around it.
For example, she did that with writing.
One blog post a week for a year and then landed a book deal.
One of the things she has applied that craft to is risk because she decided it was something she wanted to get better at.
So I want to talk to her about what she did, what she learned, and what she really thinks it takes to be brave.
Julie, welcome to Work Life.
I'm so happy you're here.
Oh, gosh.
I'm so excited to be here.
You've written about this idea of everyday risk and pushing yourself to take small risks regularly.
I'm curious, what gave you that idea and why did you think it was important?
Yeah.
First of all, I just want to say as someone that knows you, it's blowing my mind that you think of yourself as a scaredy cat because I actually think of you as very brave.
But it sounds like you've turned that into a practice.
It's something that you've taught yourself to be good at.
Yeah, totally.
One of the things that you said that really resonates with me is that confidence comes because of risk.
I think sometimes people feel like you need to be confident and then you can take a risk.
