And we were asking them, do you think that this action is something that is indicative of this person's character?
Or do you think that it's more about something like a situational, something in their situation or environment
And when it came to equality and property behaviors, people were like, that's something about them.
You know, if they are respecting property or not respecting property, that's something about who they are.
If they are equal or treating others equally or not treating others equally, that's something about who they are.
But when it came to these other domains, people were maybe a little bit more reserved about making those judgments.
So I think when we think about the importance of property and equality as well, it's important to note that we, first of all, we did this within an American context.
All of our participants were Americans.
And so it's really capturing, likely, an American cultural context.
And so while we can't say for sure why these moral domains are popping up as so important,
we can kind of look to other research to show that these do seem like important things to people.
So for instance, in developmental research, equality pops up.
So kids as young as 18 months really seem to recognize ideas of equality.
And when it comes to property,
Property is so deeply embedded within the cultural institutions of the United States.
