My helmet, you'll see it's carbon, pure carbon black because I figured out that the paint was 80 grams.
So I chopped out the paint because one kilogram of our body weight, including helmet over whatever, was three hundredths of a second per lap slower.
Crazy, huh?
So just one kilogram.
I mean, take a kilogram.
And this car weighs 700 kilos.
One kilogram resulted in every lap three hundredths of a second slower.
Calculated from the simulation from the computer.
Is that nuts?
And it is factually true because we also know that 10 kilograms of fuel is always three tenths of a second per lap.
So we know that.
10 kilograms fuel is three tenths, which is a lot.
One kilogram, three hundredths.
That's two seconds of race time.
Very often the difference between winning and losing because Louis and I were always stacked up in our gearboxes, crossing the finish line most of the time.
So it's the difference, winning or losing.
One kilogram.
