McGovern was very much around about Dublin with the Burns and their associates for many, many years.

But it was just shortly after the murder of Noel Duck Egg Kerwin that he left Ireland and never returned until he did so, you know, on a jet, having been extradited back

in the United Arab Emirates.

He believed after the murder of Noel Duck Egg Kerwin that he was going to be arrested and that's why he fled basically.

Daniel Kinahan took him in to the United Arab Emirates and he very quickly became his sort of number two confidant and the one that if anybody wanted to get to Daniel they had to speak to McGovern.

So he kind of went from the Byrne organised crime group right to the side of Daniel Kinahan

And Daniel Kinahan must have liked and trusted him before he ever, you know, gave him sanctuary out there.

Yeah.

That friendship was obviously forged.

I don't think anybody realized how strong it was.

And so he was ultimately arrested in Dubai in October 2024.

We should say, by the way, McGovern, the arrest warrant in relation to McGovern was issued at the same time the US Treasury sanctioned the Kinahans.

And McGovern was not sanctioned, but there was an arrest warrant issued.

And information on the financial destruction, basically, of the network.

It just shows you though, he's not arrested in Dubai until October 2024 and that arrest warrant was issued in, when were the sanctions, 21?
