But I suppose really the reason we're here on Crime World talking about this is because of the appointment of one William Whelan to the company.
Now, our international listeners might pay a little bit of heed to this because we might recall a story blowing up at some point that Conor McGregor was involved in a set to in a pub.
Yeah.
And it was supposed to be with William Whelan.
It went around the world, Pat.
I got a call from somewhere in Central America from a news agency about this.
And was based in the UK, working with Thomas Bomber Cavanaugh for a long period of time, at which point the NCA, the National Crime Agency in the UK, would have identified Thomas Bomber Cavanaugh as being the UK wing of the Kinnahan cartel.
So Whelan essentially would have been seen as an associate and underling in that Kinnahan cartel.
And really, that's what made the headlines that Conor McGregor was supposed to have had this set to with a relative of a, you know, Kinahan mobster.
And was he going to be killed?
There's the connections.
And really, that's why I think it's interesting because in a way, when that story blew up and it was all headlines, the mob, you know, the Irish Mafia, the Kinnahans are after Conor McGregor.
And so when you're in Ireland and you knew the background, these guys, a lot of them grew up together, like Conor McGregor grew up with not only Graeme the Weak Whelan, but
He would have known David Byrne, who was murdered at the Regency Hotel and various other things.
And obviously, McGregor is a sportsman and a multi, what is he, a billionaire, now millionaire, in his own right, and from legitimate industry.
But he's still friends with these guys.
They all go together.
Yes, and members of, like high-ranking members of the Kinahan cartel would have followed Conor McGregor's career as he became very famous and all the rest of it.
So it was kind of almost, it amused me in a way because, you know, you're often in the media accused of blowing things up out of all proportion.
But here I was from the media trying to say to international media, this has been blown up out of all proportion.
