So you might think about what strengths you bring, what expertise.
what passions you have, what is unique about you as well.
I call these the three buckets.
And from those three categories, you have to create a very compelling statement of what is your value to that employer.
You may not speak this to the employer, but you need to know in yourself what
What are you worth to them?
Because an employer is not just the wallet that pays your salary.
They are trying to achieve something.
They can't do it without you, perhaps.
If they can't do it without you, what is it all worth?
Why are we playing this game of paying people?
You want to explain in the interview or in the conversation what you think you are worth and what value you bring and what you will continue to bring, what solutions you will bring and what problems you will solve in the future.
No, no, because you're saying it in a sort of sceptical way.
You know, I don't think I'm worth this much, but I'm just going to find, you know, a number and then I'm going to stand in front of the mirror and go, yes, I am worth this.
Yes, yes, yes.
And write the mantras in the mirror.
And that's not what I mean at all.
I think that we should use all three approaches to first, with a power approach, understand what cost is there to this employer to losing us and what alternatives we have.
We must have a BATNA in everything in life.
We must have a best alternative to the negotiated agreement.
