By the way, I absolutely love New Zealand.
I grew up in New Zealand, so that's got nothing against it.
It's just that I had built a life in Sydney.
him not being a negotiator we stayed you know kept me in that at the goal level so we clashed and clashed it was only when i remembered that i know how to negotiate um that i asked him can you explain why new zealand and what is behind that and what are you trying to achieve long term those questions get at the broader interests behind the wants and his interest was to find belonging to find a community that he could feel more a part of
to be, you know, to shift to a place that's got more access to nature.
There were so many good reasons that when he said that, I went, you know what, I'm aligned there.
I completely agree with you.
And so we started looking for creative solutions.
Would we move to Byron Bay?
Might we move to...
I don't know, maybe a different country or to Melbourne or to Queenstown, maybe, you know, and then we actually agreed with him that Auckland was the best solution to those interests.
So I came around to understanding, you know, that what he was requesting was valid and was the best solution to interests that we both had, mutual interests, and I'm really happy we moved to
Yeah, it's a great question.
It's a question that a lot of people have at the moment, like you said, in this economy, and a lot of people have lost their jobs recently.
I think the most important thing to do, now that we have the terminology, I'll remind you that we're taking the interest-based approach, is to create a value statement for yourself.
You sit at home and invest some time in deciding and defining to what problem are you the solution?
And it is very specific to a particular employer.
To what problem that they have are you the solution and what is that worth to them?
