But to make ends meet, I took a job working as a paralegal for the Legal Aid Society in New York City in family courts.
So these are the lawyers who represent children in โ
abuse and neglect cases, termination of parental right cases, but also juvenile delinquency cases, so both civil and criminal law.
I basically tried to help them, you know, case law, et cetera.
Those kids deserve their day in court as well.
But, you know, in the family court, the family court building at that time was this huge black obelisk.
And so every day I'd go to work and these kids would come in.
And, you know, it's obviously it's heartbreaking.
et cetera, and I started writing fiction as a way to kind of process.
And, you know, when you're in a band, you're tied to these three filthy, penniless men, right?
And fiction writing was... Believe me, I know.
Fiction writing was a way to... I could just do it myself.
And, you know, when you wrote 10 pages, you had 10 pages, right?
