I said it on here and I was driving up yesterday still saying, you've signed Patterson, who's just been promoted from the Championship last season.

He made a smart save five minutes in, done pretty much everything he had to do.

I think it was interesting, these comments after the game, I think he said something along the lines of he was consulting with Sunderland a little bit as well.

And it was maybe his case of like, he's not playing a lot of games and also probably going to be a sort of game where we do a lot of kicking from goal kicks.

And maybe there was some concerns about throwing him straight in after not playing for six months.

So maybe it's a case of building Patterson up a bit slower.
