Yeah, so if you're reading all these sites online, you're going down the rabbit hole and you're starting to spiral and go, I've left it too late, there's no way I can do this.
And then it's just making you unhappy and you're not actually taking any action.
I would stop reading that and I'd just go back to basics and just start focusing about the basics of personal finance.
Take fire off the table, sort out the budget, sort out debt, sort out emergency fund, just everything.
Yeah, because if you can sort of get a bit obsessed reading these sites and it can make you want that 20 year goal right now.
And so I think I think almost when you get your plan and you set yourself up, it's sometimes good to really cut back on the amount of people you're reading about that have achieved it because it just sort of puts you in a bad headspace.
Yeah, absolutely.
Okay, so we've got another one here, which these two are kind of related to each other, so I'll bring these up.
Don't become so obsessed with the numbers that you forget to actually live your life and never sacrifice your mental and physical health to achieve financial independence.
Both absolute no-brainers.
So most people, their perception of these fire movers, that's what I'll call them,
The perception of them is that they sacrifice everything.
They live like misers or like hermits and they effectively over-sacrifice for the future.
Because we know that we need to sacrifice something for future gain.
That's why we study early in life so we have that reward later in life.
It's the same thing with our finances.
But there is a limit to it, right?
It's just like the person that stays at uni for the entire life and fails to go and get a job, the person that saves forever denies themselves so much.
And so it's about finding that balance.
